Hiatus - April 26

It's the waning hours of Monday evening and I've got a few minutes before I go to bed. This is to let you know that the Christian Defender will be taking a temporary hiatus until further notice. Don't know how long it's going to be but I have every intention of keeping the X-Def going. I'm working Saturday and Sunday (12 hour shifts) and Monday to Friday is an exercise in trying to balance school and rest. I have no life! *Sigh*

I do have one request though. Whoever is sending those porn links from Japan is an asshole. As you can tell, all your efforts have been rejected so far. So please stop harassing me by sending these ridiculous comments. I'm sure there are plenty of porn sites out there that would appreciate your efforts. This blog is not one of them. So please stop. You're annoying me. Should you continue I will have no choice but to shut down the commenting feature altogether which hurts us all. Jerk!

Mind you, seeing as this blog is basically a one-hit wonder I doubt anyone really cares about the rest of my work. So we'll see what the future holds. Should my schedule clear up and my passion for writing remain I shall carry on posting. As always, the Lord knows best.

Ta-ta for now!

Hooray! - Feb 23

It appears I've missed the actual anniversary date of the X-Def by eleven days. Still, better late than never! Yes, a long time ago (February 2006 to be exact) in a galaxy far, far away (Tottenham, Ontario to be precise) the Christian Defender was born four years ago. Month in and month out I've tried my best to glorify God and His wonderful plan of redemption.

The Past 12 Months - Pain and Glory

In March 2009 I lost my good friend Ian to a massive stroke. It was truly a heartbreaking event as his death came most unexpectedly (doesn't it always?). He had a stroke Tuesday night, was admitted to Brampton Civic Hospital Wednesday morning and left us on Sunday. The proverbial silver lining was when I had the utmost pleasure to meet Ian's two sisters, Susan and Cindy. It's funny how death brings together people you normally would never have the chance to meet.

On the upside, I began my trek back to respectability by starting at triOS college for my paralegal studies. Pretty soon I'll be finished. Man how time flies! This past year has seen me grow on a personal level I never could have achieved had I stayed with Tipco. I've met some awesome instructors (Henry Lowi, Akua Carmichael, Michael Johnson and Syed Rizvi) and I've met lots of equally keen students who are just as passionate about the law as I am.

The Road Ahead

What lies ahead for me is anyone's guess. The near future is a murky one with no clear safe harbor in sight. That's usually how God works - He never tips His hand too far in advance. I've always managed somehow to land on my own two feet no matter the circumstance. All I can do at my end is be diligent and persistent. The rest I'll leave into His capable hands.

Mockers, Scoffers and Democrats - Apr 6

Why Democracy and Majority Votes Suck

Let it be said that democracy is a terrible system of governance. Democracy is by its very definition tyranny. If unpleasant truths can be voted out and self-serving lies can be voted in, how does this serve the cause of human liberty? It doesn't. Oh, how we love truth - when it suits our purpose! Oh, how we love the courts - when they likewise bow down to the false gods we've created! The law and righteousness are two different things. A majority vote and the truth are more often than not at loggerheads with one another.

Here's what I mean. If you have ten people in a room and seven say this will happen and the other three disagree, who's right? The seven hold the majority opinion but that should in no way be offered as concrete evidence. Ten out of ten could believe in such and such a thing and all ten could be wrong! Often is the case that the majority opinion is hopelessly in error and the three (who were correct in their original analysis) face ridicule and persecution.

The bottom line is this: Truth has and always will be independent of any kind of human vote. Let the foolish people of this world believe in whatever they want. Majority votes don't determine truth, God does. Nor is truth some thing that we can manipulate when it suits our ambitions. Truth is a person and that person is none other than Jesus Christ. He is the way, the truth and the life. Jesus is the Jewish Torah and the love of God made flesh. If truth is just another commodity to be crassly manipulated on the open market - and therefore devalued - we're all in serious trouble. As for me, I shall stand upon the rock which is Christ.

X-Def Updates

You may have noticed that I've added some ads through Google's AdSense program. It does not matter to me if I make a red cent through this. I know the traffic to this blog is at best minimal. When people do show up, it's usually on the same post about the number 666, 777. If I make so much as a dollar I will consider it a bonus. I will not be held responsible for the content of any external links. Should any of these AdSense links produce something un-Biblical my advice is to steer well clear. With that being said, do take a peek if you feel so inclined. There's a lot of good information out there if one is willing to do the leg-work.

My friend from Tampa, a fellow Christian, has left two instructive comments on my recent Armageddon - Part 2 post. Please take the time to read both these comments along with my responses. Thanks for your encouragement Fred!

Rambling Thoughts - Mar 17

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone, even if you're not Irish!

I am both saddened and heartbroken over the loss of my dear friend. The memorial service at Richmond Hill Presbyterian on the 11th was good as good can be under the circumstances. I found myself smiling at the eulogy that the pastor gave. 'Sounds just like him' I kept saying to myself. I feel blessed to finally meet some of his family. Ian was a private man - as I am - so it was nice to meet his sisters Susan and Cindy. Funerals, like a wedding, does that to a family. The dynamic of a family dealing with tragedy or triumph is a marvel to behold.

On a personal note, my second career ambitions are moving along swimmingly. No confirmation from the school board yet. The process began on March 9th and it takes at least three weeks before the educrats look at your case. A bit of selfish prayer is indeed called for! God willing, I'll begin a full year of paralegal classes on April 20th at TriOS college Mississauga campus. June is the alternate start date. Soon as I get word, I'll post it here. I've not worked a minute since December and my funds are starting to dry up. My EI kicks in in May for 38 weeks. After that, Employment Ontario will hopefully bridge that 14 week gap for living expenses. It sucks being unemployed. Without working you feel like a dead weight.

I was pondering about this personal journey. Namely, you have to exercise patience to allow God's plan for you to unfold. Speeding it up leaves you vulnerable. Too slow and you miss out on God's best. This process of getting all you ducks lined up in a row is one that doesn't happen overnight. Yet like a cat with nine lives I've always somehow managed to land on my own feet. God's firm hand is guiding my situation. I'm now a licensed and certified security guard able to work anywhere in Ontario. Tomorrow I'll be dropping by three (or four) security companies in Toronto to drop off resumes. Wish me luck!

There's something to be said about keeping things simple. Simplicity equals sanity. Order over chaos. Today I went through every link in my sidebar. Faith Girl has not posted since May 2008 and so has been removed from my contributors list. I will try to contact her to see if I can get her back in the fold. Faith Girl's favorites, News Links and New World Order are no more. I am excited over my new addition 'Muslims Curious About Christianity'. I've noticed that I often get visitors from non-Christian countries such as India, Dubai and Malaysia (to name a few). What a tremendous gift it would be if a Muslim (or Hindu) chooses Christ as a result of my foresight. Islam is one of the major religions in the world and I believe it's vital Muslims hear about the promise of salvation that only Christ can offer. They may agree. They may disagree. But make no mistake! A face to face meeting with Biblical truth leaves one without excuse. Truth demands personal responsibility. No wonder so many despise it!

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the new and improved X-Def. If you know of any relevant links you'd like me to add (or reinstate) please leave a comment. Be specific! Saying 'your blog sucks' isn't going to be highly regarded as an effective form of communication. I've linked the Canadian flag and Johnny Cash picture too. They now lead to cbc.ca and johnnycash.com respectively. Links that were off-topic, obsolete, unreadable or not up to date have been deleted. It's amazing how far behind you get when you don't update your blog on a regular basis. I hope you like the result.

Three Year Anniversary - Feb 8

Please don't try to eat this cake. The X-Def assumes no responsibility if you damage your computer!

The actual anniversary falls on the 12th but I've decided to start celebrating now. Yessir, the X-Def is now three years old. On to year four!

What's My Motivation After All These Years?

Whenever a milestone is reached, we often look back so we can look forward. I have four main directives which seem more pertinent now then what they were three years ago.

Proclaiming the Good News

This has and always will be the number one priority of the Christian Defender. Just think of the impact that Paul, Barnabas and all the other saints would've had if they had access to the world-wide web! Or imagine if Paul had the use of a simple bicycle? I ponder how many with an internet connection who could've made an eternal impact for the Kingdom of God but chose the easy way instead. Proclaiming the Good News comes with a price, usually a heavy one. Reaching out to the lost while under duress is certainly not for the faint of heart.

The 2 I's: Israel and Islam

One is to be supported and the other is to be shamed into oblivion. So while the world supports Islam and shames Israel, I'm proud to do the exact opposite. The battle between Hamas and the Israeli military in Operation Cast Lead may be over, but the battle over the existence of the Jewish state still continues. Despite all the caterwauling about the 'occupation' (Note to anti-semites and pseudo-academics: Israel left Gaza in 2005), the simple fact is Hamas is much more brutal towards the Palestinian people on a good day then Israeli forces will ever be on a bad day.

Secularists Behaving Badly

Which brings me to the fourth pillar of the X-Def: The ongoing culture war to pulverize Judeo-Christian civilization. President Barack Obama's (pro-choice and Marxist) politics will accelerate America's decline as a world power. Bad science, a left-wing elitist media and the normalization of evil are surely the birthpangs of the last days of this church age. We don't tolerate evil, we prefer its company! Is it any wonder that America cannot be found in Bible prophecy?

Giving Thanks To All Those Who've Supported Me

That includes all my detractors (whom will continue to go unmentioned). Any hate mail I receive simply confirms again and again my eternal destiny. The world is truly in the lap of the wicked one. Thanks for reminding me I'm one of Satan's enemies! My thanks also goes out to those fellow Christian bloggers who are courageously challenging this sensual thinking. Lastly, thanks to all those who've happened to stumble across my humble little blog. Only God knows what the eternal impact will be for all my hours of work. Whether you're a one-time viewer or a regular or a friend or an enemy, I feel nothing but gratitude and encouragement for all your visits. May God continue to bless this blog for the purpose of His glory!

Delight Yourself in the LORD - Jan 31

Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:

He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;

do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
(Psalm 37:3-7)

In my last post I took a commentator (now persona non grata) to task for his overall nastiness. I wrote about the banality of evil and how it produces people of mediocre character. We - including Christians - often think of evil in comical terms when the truth is in fact much more nuanced. Why do so many of us struggle in life? The answer lies in our selfish nature and our relationship with God.

Our Desires: What We Dwell Upon Is Where We End Up

We struggle daily over the concept of righteousness because we have separated ourselves from God. That is, we do not delight in His ways. That has been our sorry lot since the Fall of Man in the Garden of Eden. All of us have desires. Without them, our lives would be pointless and aimless. Desire and ambition are therefore good things. The economy would collapse if people didn't get up, have their coffee and muffin and get to work. But do we have the same ambition when it comes to waiting on the LORD? Why doesn't God give us everything we want?

Sensual Desires

It's the oldest battle: Flesh versus the Spirit. Human wisdom versus God's wisdom. Immediacy versus discipline. Impatience versus due diligence. On and on it goes. Let it be understood that God is not some cosmic sugar daddy. What we want may destroy us. Or we may mismanage or abuse the gift. I think it's a general truism that the more we want it, the more likely it will hurt us. The greater the influence of the flesh, the more immediate the desire.

Bad Timing is a Killer!

What if we put away our earthly proclivities (always easier said than done) and still don't get what we've asked for? The problem could be one of timing. We may want someone to marry and start a family but we may lack the maturity or be unable to meet the financial obligations. We may want the perfect job (that's on my personal wish list) but we lack the training. He knows all and sees all and wants nothing but the best for us. But there's the catch: We ought to delight in His perfect timing. It is then and only then do receive His very best.

Judgement and Consequences

So what happens to the poor sod who ignores God?

You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
(James 4:2-3)

Anger. Frustration. Disappointment. Deception. Even death. I think of so many who narrowly wanted it their way only to have it come to a tragic end. What do we gain by mistrusting Him? Nothing. It amazes me how anyone would trust their horoscopes and other soothsayers more than the Almighty. Who's the superstitious one here? Jesus isn't some imaginary friend! He's real, and He wants to bless up mightily. However, the blessing is entirely conditional: Trust and delight in the Lord's provisions. If you're not a Christian (like what's-his-name) you will not receive anything if you continually reject Jesus Christ as Lord. Everything starts with salvation. Will you trust Him today?

777 and Bible Numerology - Oct 8

I was floored recently when I received my weekly update from sitemeter last Monday. On the 29th I had 389 visits (450 page views) and on the 30th I had 307 visits (354 page views). Now I know for a fact that my last post on the geopolitical tensions in Pakistan wasn't the reason for my recent upsurge in traffic. As you may recall, the Dow Jones fell 777.68 points when Congress rejected the $700 billion bailout. Naturally, people googled the number 777 to see what they came up with. Many came across this post I wrote on June 6th, 2006 (6/6/06):

The Number 666, 777 - Jun 6

In that post both Jesus Christ and the seven churches of Asia Minor (now Turkey) were represented as the number 777.

Was This Financial Catastrophe the Work of God?

Given the fact that the stock market took a precise beating to the tune of 777.7 if we round up, we come across some interesting parallels in the Book of the Revelation. There isn't three sets of seven judgements, but in fact four of them:

The Seven Sealed Scroll (Rev 6, Rev 8:1-5)
The Seven Trumpets (Rev 8:6-13,Rev 9, Rev 11:15-19)
The Seven Thunders (unknown) (Rev 10:3,4)
The Seven Plagues/Bowls (Rev 16)

So instead of a mere 777, you have four sevens to contend with. Taking into consideration that this just so happened around Rosh Hashanah, whose theme is judgement, I found an interesting thing about the date 9/29/08. By adding the numbers together we get 9+2+9+0+8=28. The number twenty-eight can also be represented as 7+7+7+7=28. Four sevens again!

So Deep It's Meaningless: An Academic Rebuttal

What does this all prove? Sadly, not much. No sane judge in a court of law would even consider such speculative line of thinking. Numbers, like language, can be manipulated to prove whatever an individual desires to prove. The truth of the matter is we have no idea whether God weighed in with His divine authority on September 29th. In matters of faith you will never find the bloody thumbprint or other hard evidence to prove your theory. Faith is not silly superstition. It is a mystery standing above and beyond simple human reason.

Here's What I Do Know

That through this God managed to give Himself the glory. Basing my assumption that the sitemeter stats are trustworthy, many now have been exposed to Christianity and the Bible's teachings. Imagine if ten percent of the viewers on Monday and Tuesday gave their heart to Christ because of me! That would amount to 69 new souls being added to the Book of Life by sheer accident! Again, I'll never know. Maybe nobody gave their heart to Christ. Perhaps my figure of 69 is but a fantasy. Yet for those who stumbled upon my blog they now have no excuse. None can plead ignorance before an omniescient Creator.

A Quick Update: 10,000 Visits and Counting

Actually, it's over 11,000. Keeping in mind that I added sitemeter later on it's hard to guess how many have seen this blog - or care to admit to it! I am encouraged greatly by the world-wide participation of those precious individuals who have perchanced the X-Def. As my computer troubles have finally passed I intend to post as often as time allows. So please be patient with me. Doing the Lord's work is never easy!

Sowing Eternal Seeds - Aug 2

It is with great fanfare that the X-Def is now two and a half years old! The actual date is on the 12th but I've decided to comment on my efforts right now.

Mastering the Blazingly Obvious

This post represents the 31st consecutive month that I've posted. I think often of those bloggers who created a blog only to leave it hanging when they realize how much effort is required of them to maintain it. Some of my posts have up to three to four hours of research behind it before I even type a single letter! Add to that another hour of (rather poor) typing, hyperlinking the URLs and editing the damn thing and you all of a sudden a big chunk of your waking (and non-working) day is taken up by a single post. How many then can boast of a blog of this size? Not too many by my reckoning.

This of course comes with a caveat. As I do not have a family of my own (too complicated to explain here) and aside from my full-time employment, there aren't many in my life making demands on my time. Compare that to Faith Girl who has her day jammed packed with family and church events and you'll see why there aren't that many posts from her.

I Shall Never Suffer For Lack of Material

So when exactly do you call it quits? It certainly will not be lack of material that will cause this blog's demise. Even if I have no idea what to write, there will always be current events and God's eternal Word. In a way, the Bible is always current, even when we're not aware of it. It is relevant now and will remain relevant ten and twenty years from now. Given the pace of events, the Bible will become more relevant, not less.

So barring an untimely death on my part, the only thing to trip me up is either boredom or the idea that my testimony is finished. When I finally left the CF in February 2005, I did so with that idea in mind. I had gone as far as I could and felt no reason to continue. It was touching that so many people wanted me to stay, but I knew in my heart that it was time to pack it in.

I want to be crystal clear in that I fully intend to reach my third anniversary in February of 2009 (and beyond). Which brings me to the title of this post.

The Real MO of the X-Def

My motivation has and always will to sow eternal seeds. In this life you have a choice. You can either sow earthly seed or heavenly seed. If you sow seed in the earthly realm, then that's exactly what you'll get. If you sow seed in the heavenly realm then don't expect earthly dividends! It is a very rare sight to see someone rich in both the world and in God. Generally speaking though, you're either in it for the money and power of this world or for the glory and riches that only Jesus can offer. One must either serve Mammon or God.

If A Tree Falls in the Forest ....

And nobody hears it, does it still make a sound? Let me put this Zen riddle into a Christian perspective. If you tell the truth according to God's word and nobody pays attention, are you a failure or a success? Again, that depends on the criteria. If we judge a prophet of God by the standards of this world, then yes, he (or she) is a failure. But if we judge that same prophet by an eternal standard, a royal success becomes their inheritance. Which then is greater, the temporal or the eternal? Clearly the eternal is greater. Just as infinity is greater than any finite number we could ever imagine, sowing eternal seeds for the life to come shall surpass all of our worldly efforts.

Hope you enjoyed that as much as I did. I'll probably have another post for you this long hot August weekend. See you then.

Pentecost 2017 - May 10

May - A Month to Celebrate

Not only does yours truly celebrate a birthday this month, Israel was also born in May sixty years ago. Ezekiel, a servant of God, gives us a prophecy of the rebirth of modern Israel:

They will live in the land I gave to my servant Jacob, the land where your fathers lived. They and their children and their children's children will live there forever, and David my servant will be their prince forever. I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant. I will establish them and increase their numbers, and I will put my sanctuary among them forever. My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people. Then the nations will know that I the LORD make Israel holy, when my sanctuary is among them forever.' " (Ezekiel 37:25-28)

Jesus Himself taught that when things start happening quickly the generation that sees all these things will be the one to usher in the millenial reign (aka the sabbath):

"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (Matthew 24:32-35)

Does the Fig Tree Represent Modern Israel's Rebirth?

This one is a real mystery. Some will say yes, some no. I do not believe Jesus was talking specifically about the modern-day resurrection of Israel in the above passage. I do however believe that Israel's rebirth signifies the beginnings of the close of the church age. Now the age of grace did not end when Israel came into being in 1948. But (and this is a big but), I believe it commenced the countdown to the end of this age. If seventy years is the average human life span (knowing that all generations overlap with one another), then 25,200 days (70 prophetic years each comprised of 360 days) from May 15, 1948 to the year 2017/5777 strikes me as a very reasonable timetable.

Why the Number Seventy? A Top Ten List to Ponder

In 1988, some Bible scholars believed that Jesus (the bridegroom) would come for His church (the bride). That was based on the forty years that the Jews spent wandering in the desert. The year 1988 came and went and we're still waiting. I think these well-meaning individuals were half-right. The start point was right but the period of time was too short. So why 70 years instead? Consider the following:

1) The descendants of Jacob numbered seventy in all. (Exodus 1:5)

2) It was seventy elders of Israel along with Moses who confirmed the covenant with God (Exodus 24)

3) The offerings given for the dedication of the tabernacle had one silver plate weighing 130 shekels (fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering). The other silver plate weighed seventy shekels. Each one of the twelve tribes of Israel gave this offering.

4) Gideon had seventy sons in all. All seventy died as a result of the sins of Abimelech. (Judges 8,9)

5) Seventy men of Beth Shemesh were killed by God because they looked into the Ark of the Covenant. (1 Samuel 6:19)

6) Seventy sons of the house of Ahab were killed by Jehu (2 Kings 10)

7) King Hezekiah purified the temple with seventy bulls (and rams and male lambs) as a burnt offering. (2 Chronicles 29:32)

8) The Babylonians conquered the Israelites and left Jerusalem desolate for seventy years according to Jeremiah's prophecy. (Jer 25:11)

9) The length of our days is seventy years. (Psalm 90)

10) Daniel was given the the prophecy of Seventy 'Sevens'. (Daniel 9)

The number seventy is better associated with God's judgement than forty. What we see here is a theme of sanctification and purification from sin. Seven is the perfect number, ten (or five) is the complete number. God's perfection is multiplyed by His completeness (7 x 10 = 70). If ever there was a finite number to describe Him, seventy would be it.

So why Pentecost?

The church was born on Pentecost (see Acts 2). The Law was handed to Moses on Pentecost (also known as Shavuot). It is the very day (on two separate occasions) where Jewish ethics and the Christian faith were married. If God wanted to get our attention by removing His church, there's no better day to do it than on Pentecost/Shavuot. The year 2017 is also the Hebrew year of 5777. If both the Lord and the church are represented by the number 777, does not the year 5777 strike us as terribly important?

Mind you, I have been wrong before. Only time will tell if I am wise or foolish.

Postscript: Shavuot or the day of Pentecost in the year 5777/2017 falls on the 6th of Sivan/31st of May. Just thought I'd let you know!

Devotions - Feb 25

After some degree of reflection I've decided it's time to make some major changes. After two full years of existence the Christian Defender will now be a devotional blog. There are some good reasons for this.

Beating A Dead Horse: Politics and Islam

Why move away from current events? First of all, there are many other sites that do a much better job of delivering the news than I can. Nobody is interested in stale news, much less my interpretation of it. Only in the case of major advances in Bible prophecy will I make the occasional foray.

Secondly, the question of Islam. Again, there are many others such as Jihad Watch that do a much better job than I ever could. I've made my position on Islam crystal clear. Here are six main points to consider:

1) The Islamists are playing for keeps. Political correctness is strangling the much-needed debate on this attack on our cherished freedoms. Until we wake up and realize that we are in the midst of a material, ideological and spiritual war with Islam, the jihad being waged against the West will continue.

2) Our efforts of appeasement have been an abject failure. All of this pandering has not given us even a moment of peace. Worse yet, this has emboldened the enemy's resolve.

3) Israel's fight is our fight. Tiny Israel is at the very forefront of this battle of civilization. The leftist idea that Israel and the Jews can be sacrificed 'for the greater good' is not only profoundly anti-semitic, it's also dangerous.

4) As for America and Europe, unless we stand up for what we believe in we too shall be steamrolled into oblivion. Countries like Canada, the U.S., Great Britain, France and Germany were founded by Christian principles in both its laws and in its institutions. If we lose our Christian heritage, we lose everything.

5) Our efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan, though flawed, are vital. Pulling the plug prematurely sets all of our efforts back at least a generation. Simply put, no army has ever won a war by going backwards.

6) The maltreatment of non-Muslims at the hand of Muslims. And it's not just the Israelis either. Go ask the Serbs or the Egyptian Copts or the Assyrian Christians in Iraq. Strangely enough, the reverse is not true. So much for moral relativism! The kind of people that Islam produces is a horror story.

After that there's little more that needs to be said. The links I have on my sidebar pretty much explain where I stand on the issue of jihad and dhimmitude.

What Will You See More Of?

I don't think I'm really cut out to be some kind of news reporter. Journalists strike me as being a little bit high-strung, probably as a result of too much coffee. It's an attribute I don't care to share. In short, here are the things I intend to use a lot more of:

Scripture. And Lots Of It!

For me, my real passion is to share God's word. Makes you think what would Paul and the rest of Jesus' disciples think of the world wide web! The internet poses a glorious opportunity to share the love of Jesus Christ with the unsaved. As I've stated before, there's a lot of sloppy theology being taught out there, even in the churches! I've been studying the Gospel of Mark at my local church with the pastor and a few others. Through this it has become painfully clear the real need for good prophetic teaching. The deconstruction of the plain teachings of God's Word is a burgeoning industry. One that needs to be confronted with sound Biblical doctrine.

Sports and Popular Culture

Why not? As an avid follower of sports for most of my life it makes sense to comment on all matters athletic. Sports is a big part of Canadian culture, and not just hockey!

As for my rants on pop culture, I do think it is important to have a Biblical outlook on the general silliness that pervades our lives. I live in the world yet I feel like a foreigner in a strange and hostile land. I think that's the attitude God wants us to have. In the world but not of the world. So many Christians miss out on God's best because of their obsession with earthly matters.

Why The Change In Format?

In a word: Flexibility. Not that I've ever suffered for lack of material. I haven't. I just feel that this gives me more latitude and freedom. Seems silly for me to restrict myself on my own blog! As I mentioned above, this will come at a price. Less political punditry and anti-jihad rants and more scripture. I firmly believe truth is both timeless and universal. It is precisely for that reason that this change is essential. Not only will this hopefully increase readership, it will have a much greater personal impact. Giving glory to God is probably the greatest service any man or woman can do for humanity. I've got an internet connection and I intend to use it!

The X-Def: On To Year Three! - Feb 9

This February the 12th this humble little blog will be celebrating its second anniversary. I'm sort of jumping the gun here but its not every day I get to pat myself on the back. As you may have noticed, there's been a few changes. I've always liked the idea of sticking to 'The Man' and Satan's minions for the glory of God. Hence the new blurb under the title. It's shorter and more mature sounding. That to me is what Christianity is all about.

The X-Def Sidebar

I thought the Canadian flag was an addition that was long overdue. The title over Johnny Cash's picture and the Religion of Peace is gone too. I've deleted 'Fun Stuff' and re-distributed my 'Rogues and Scallywags'. The IRIS Seismic Monitor has been bumped around and so I finally gave it its own header in 'Mother Nature, Father God' along with three others. I've also changed the order around somewhat. I would recommend to those who visit this blog regularly is to check the sidebar frequently for new additions. I'm always looking to improve the X-Def both in terms of quantity and quality.

An Angel of Light

I would like to thank Faith Girl for her input as well. I curse the fact that she has a slow internet connection and is unable to post more frequently (no post as of yet in 2008). I always enjoy her insight. Thank you Faith Girl for your friendship.

My Friend the Anti-Semite

Sadly I wish I could say the same about dizzyfatplonka, my English friend with whom I had a falling out. When you start a relationship with someone and they don't turn out to be the person you thought they were there's a definite sense of betrayal. No person who hates the Jews and the land of Israel will have a place in God's kingdom. I don't hate the man, on the contrary I care very much about his eternal state. So I pray that DFP will one day find the true light of salvation in Jesus Christ and fall in love with God's people. Until then I have no use for him.

Let's get to some local news that's been burning a hole in my pocket.

Canada's Slide Into Oblivion

Under the Canadian flag on the sidebar I've written 'God keep our land glorious and free', a line from our national anthem. It's funny but in the bilingual version that line is curiously omitted. Don't want to offend French and secularist sensibilities! While God will always be God regardless of what we do, we still have an obligation to ourselves to keep vigilant. Call it 'death by a thousand cuts' if you will. However, the end result is still the same.

Here's one story that caught my eye. In Ontario, Muslim women in polygamous marriages are now receiving welfare benefits. What the....? This is unacceptable. This shows how far we've slid into a moral abyss. If there's one thing us good socialist Canadians care about is our commitment to a secular-progressive, godless nanny state. Onwards comrades! So if marriage is no longer a union of one man and one woman for life, then what is it? Thanks to gay rights, marriage is now a union of two people, any two will do. But why stop there? Why not three people? Why not four, five or six? Why stop at adult human beings? Bestiality as a 'right'? Why not? Just find a lawyer and a sympathetic judge to hear your case and away you go! If pedophiles simply cannot help themselves I suppose we have to recognize their rights as well. Anarchy in the streets and in the courts becomes the natural result. The assault on decency continues.

Let's be perfectly clear: Canada will always have enemies, be they foreign or domestic. We need to stop apologizing for being free. Once you abandon the Biblical standard of truth anything goes. Unfortunately for us, it's the elites that decide the truth for us and we'd better like it. Is this the kind of world you want to live in? Cause that's exactly where we're headed. Truth offends so let's get rid of it. Sacrificing truth upon the altar of expediency for the sake of some kind of illusory harmony is but sheer nonsense.

False Idols, False Beliefs - Jan 28

Why do we continue in our self-destructive ways?

You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God. (Exodus 20:3-5a)

Understand what a false god is. It doesn't have to be some crude carving made out of stone, wood, or precious metal. A false god is anything that you love more, serve more and fear more than JHVH God. It is a sin that has been glorified and placed on an altar for all to worship.

My Rant, Part I

I am not going to say to you, 'Don't believe in that' or 'You must believe in this'. Indeed, the more I argue, the more entrenched (and stubborn) you'll likely become. I will challenge you this: Do you know what you believe in is in fact, true? If your belief system is rooted in a lie then what's the point? All your efforts look to be in vain! An untested faith is an unsure one.

My Rant, Part II

The so-called 'wisdom of this world' is based on human pride and arrogance. Here are two main reasons why you and I should oppose false beliefs:

1) The devaluing of human life: The urge to place oneself above others is the heighth of pride. Sexism, racism, anti-Semitism and all other supremacist ideologies devalue the life of those whom we wish to dominate and/or eliminate. If we are made in the image of God, male and female, black and white, Gentile and Jew, there should be no place in our hearts for these hateful things.

2) 'It's Not My Fault!' - Ducking Responsibility: Let's be honest, we've all uttered the phrase. God demands that we take individual responsibility for our actions. It's easy to blame our screw-ups on others. It takes a great deal of maturity to admit you messed up. However, saying 'sorry' isn't enough. Action must follow to rectify the situation. For a Christian, the example that we must follow is Jesus Christ. An impossibly high standard for sure, but those who truly love Him will want to emulate Him all the time. Immature people ALWAYS deny, deny, deny and project their faults onto others.

There are so many false gods out there being worshipped today. Here are a few notables that enslave us:

The god of Sexual Freedom

This month marks the 35th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade in America. Our desire for greater sexual freedoms has come with a great price. Marriage and the very notion of family itself is under attack. Abortion devalues the fetus and the avoidance of marriage vows falls under the 'ducking responsibility' umbrella.

Click here to take a multiple choice quiz on Roe vs. Wade. You'll find the Roe IQ Test in the sidebar as a permanent link as well. I scored a miserable 3 out of 12!

The god of Fortresses

The Russians are at it again. Along with a naval alliance with Libya, they've also created an axis of evil with China and Iran.

The god of fortresses is a god of power. Understand not all power is bad. Jesus Himself had tremendous power and He gave His disciples power to do the Lord's bidding. What I'm talking about here is power purely for power's sake. A man such as George Soros worships this false idol. The insatiable lust for power, the power of 'one more dollar' has lead many to their destruction.

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds.

The opening Sura of the Koran is a chilling one. Allah is also a god of fortresses, one that is specifically tied to Islam. From honor killings (and the subsequent failure of Western feminists to condemn these atrocities) to 'forest fire jihad' to staged blackouts in Gaza, Islam represents the motherlode of delinquent behaviour. Political correctness, both domestic and foreign limits our calls for much-needed reform (if possible) within the Muslim world.

The simple matter is this: More and more people are doing their own independent research and analysis on Islam and they're not liking what they're seeing. The MSM is hopelessly chained to its PC mantle of cultural sensitivity and moral relativism. As a result, fewer and fewer are tuning in. Expect this trend to accelerate and continue. May there be a thousand more like Robert Spencer and Ayaan Hirsi Ali who are willing to spread the truth.

Jesus Christ, the One and Only

Make the choice. You can live for yourself or for the one who is truly worthy of worship, Jesus Christ. Religion won't save you. Neither will being 'good' or great deeds. In Haryana, India and in Nepal, people are living for Jesus and the transformation is incredible.

Some X-Def Updates

I've reorganized the sidebar as some headers were getting a wee bit unwieldy. I've deleted Debbie Schlussel and Layla Gonzalez' links along with American-Israeli Patriot. Debbie and Layla's links were off topic and AIP was outdated. I've also added a few link such as the aforementioned Roe IQ Test homepage and Reject the UN, an anti-globalist blog. Terror Finance blog was added a while ago. Please feel free to explore these informative sites.

Jingle Bells, Batman Smells - Dec 23

What's up with the superherophobia? I'd take the Batmobile Tumbler over Santa's sleigh any day. Anyhoo, here's a cool Christmas pic to add to your folder:

Actually, scratch that. Poor old St. Nick has collided with a PLA jet whilst over the South China Sea. As a result, Christmas is cancelled this year. Hope that doesn't inconvenience your family too much.

Gog and Magog

Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him. Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords. Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet. Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee. (Ezekiel 38:2-6)

This has been a little nugget of Bible prophecy that continues to fascinate me. It tells of a war launched against Israel won by God Himself. Libya and Ethiopia are self-explanatory. Persia is modern-day Iran. But who is the 'house of Togarmah of the north quarters'? Turkey and Russia seem to be the most logical choices. With the recent National Intelligience Estimate (NIE), Bible prophecy has just taken a quantum leap.

Iran (Persia) and Iraq

Here's my pet theory: America has made its mind up that diplomacy with Iran is over. Knowing recent Iran-Iraq relations have not been stellar, especially in the 1980's, the Bush administration has cut a deal: Either co-operate with us on Iraq with the eventual U.S. troop withdrawal or we will arm Iraq (and possibly the KSA as well) to the teeth. An Iranian pledge of non-interference in Iraq's internal affairs gives them a reprieve wrt their nuclear ambitions. With a year left in power, Dubya wants his vindication and he wants it now. Determined to carve out a legacy at any price, the groundwork has been laid for a destructive confrontation, endangering both Jewish and Arab lives. Thus, whomever inherits the Oval Office in Jan '09 will have a ticking time bomb to deal with as soon as they assume command.

Israel: We Are Not Amused

Naturally, the Israelis are mortified. America, Israel's biggest ally and supporter, has abandoned the Jewish state. While that may or may not be the official case, I think the end result is still the same. It certainly has made for sober reading in the Israeli newspapers of late. Israel once more stands alone against its enemies.

The Russian Bear Awakes

There's no way to know for sure what role (if any) Russia will play in Ezekiel's prophecy. What we do know (and it ain't pretty) is this:

The precedent of Russian MiGs over Israeli airspace has already been set. Russian complicity in the Six-Day War of 1967 was much more significant (and sinister) than originally believed.

While the Yeltsin years hardly represented a nadir for Russia, things have deteriorated under Vladimir Putin. Vlad the Impaler has throttled the opposition and stifled what was left of a free press. Time magazine can call it 'stability' all it wants, but former chess grandmaster Gary Kasparov isn't fooled: It's the old reconstituted Soviet system in all its evil glory.

U.S-Russian foreign relations have taken a nosedive as well. The recent decision by the Bush administration to put a missile defence system in Poland has upped the ante. While the U.S. continues to engage Iran over Iraq (see above) the Americans fundamentally distrust the Iranians (with good reason) and Russian attempts to enable them.

Saving Man from the Wreckage of Civilization

The Gospel was never given to save civilization from wreckage. It was given to save man from the wreckage of civilization. Above all, there is a God who loves us very much. A man living in a cave in India was given a new life in Jesus Christ thanks to a GFA missionary. It is through faith, by receiving The One Who Was Sent, Jesus the Messiah, the same shall be saved. That to me is the heart and soul of the gospel message. If you understand that, then you've grasped the true meaning of Christianity.

Sultan Knish

Found this blog by glorious accident. You can check out this post about the self-defeating jihad that the West finds itself in. The link to his homepage can be found under 'Israeli Bloggers'.

Merry Freakin' Christmas!

I would like to take this time to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. As I have this week off, I do intend to post again before the year is over. BTW, Santa is very much alive and in one piece, despite China's best military efforts. Stay safe, have fun and please don't drink and drive!

Faith, Family, Freedom - Dec 18

It's about time somebody unapologetically said 'Merry Christmas'! This is a wonderful little plug by Mike Huckabee. As I've stated previously, I've endorsed Huck to be America's new president in 2008. Mike's 'Fair Tax' plan will empower the poor and the middle class. As it turns out, even I made a mistake: This guy is for real. While Rudy is still the GOP frontrunner, Huck has surged forward by as much as 18 points! This is huge. Politics is really all about momentum. Who had it but lost it, who didn't have it before but do now and those who never had momentum in the first place. Rudy and Romney are in the first category whilst Huckabee is clearly in the second. Thompson, McCain and Ron Paul fall into that unfortunate third slot. Now we must remember that November '08 is still a ways off and a lot can happen between now and then.

The Great Communicator - Part II

Huckabee understands the American heart just like Ronald Reagan did. I believe it's that simple. Huck doesn't have secret mutant powers as some have tongue-in-cheek suggested. What he does have is an ability to engage men and women directly while putting them at ease. He's that 'family friend', someone who always gets an invite to Christmas dinner.

Capturing the Female Vote

Mike is not what you would call model material. Nor will he ever be mistaken for James Bond. As men tend to vote conservative irrespective of who's running, the ultimate swing vote ends up in the hands of women. It's the women in a democracy who are the king makers. So if good looks aren't the be all and end all (nor are they entirely irrelevant), what drives women away from a particular candidate? In a word: Anger. Women (and more than a few men) don't like angry candidates. Guys, listen to me: It's not just what you say, it's how you say it that matters to women. Overly aggressive body language turns women off. A masculine leader that is confident and self-assured with a hint of mischief in their eyes will melt most women's hearts. Huck has got that whole mojo thing going with his body language. How do you think Bill Clinton avoided impeachment? The worst twentieth century U.S. president who never 'got it' as far as body language was concerned has to be Richard Nixon. Look how history judges them now! Looking at the current GOP slate, Mitt looks stiff and Rudy looks like a deer caught in the headlights. Not good for them, that's for sure!

Haven't had a post in over a week so I'd like to thank you for your patience. I've also included Mike's own website for your leisure.

Looking Spiffy! - Nov 15

I've just updated my Yahoo toolbar and it sure looks spiffy. I would highly recommend the upgrade. I'm always finding ways to improve the X-Def and I've added a graphic link to thereligionofpeace.com blog. Under 'Anti-Jihad Leaders' the hyperlink to the TROP is gone as is the 'Cox and Forkum' link. The blogrankings.com link under my RSS button has been removed as well. It's nice to clean up the clutter without feeling you're losing anything. Hard work this blog business.

On a personal note I'm staying put (hopefully) at my current address as of 2008. I remember the aggravation of my four years at McMaster moving to Hamilton every September only to reverse course in April when I finished my final exams. I'm very fond of this whole stability and independence thing. All I need is a raise at work and I'm set.

Wouldn't Mo be so proud with today's success stories? The legal jihad being waged in U.S. courts continues to disappoint those whom it is supposed to protect.

At the University of California (Irvine), a Muslim Student Union is showing its overt support for Hamas. What dhimmitude this is! Where's the leadership?

While Egypt does its part to support terrorism against Israel, the U.S. sees it fit to reward bad behaviour by selling the Egyptians over a billion dollars worth of arms. Egypt, much like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, are 'allies' in the WOT in name only.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like The Winter Solstice

Can't say the 'C' word. Would offend all those fun-loving secularists out there. No doubt the Anti-Christ Legion of Unbelievers (aka the ACLU) will be out in full force, sucking the joy out of the Christmas season. I really do hate the Christmas season. I mean I do actually like it, but all the PC being deployed strangles the life out of it, hence the reason I 'hate' it. I'm convinced that the correct interpretation of 'separation of church and state' will never be properly understood (and applied) by our courts. 'Separation of church and state' is not meant to be used as a sledgehammer against the Christian faith. Nor will you find the term anywhere in the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, or the Declaration of Independence. It is meant to protect religious liberty from encroaching statism. Does that logic deter the likes of the ACLU? Of course not. Merrily they go about obliterating any evidence of America's Christian heritage come every December. Well, I'm not afraid of saying 'Merry Christmas' despite all this PC nonsense. Even when it offends.

Paging Dr. Frankenstein!

I'm sure you've heard about stem cell research and the controversy surrounding it. As far as embryonic stem cells goes, 20 years of research and billions of dollars have not produced one successful treatment. Lab rats injected with these unstable tissues have either developed tumours or been rejected by the host. Adult stem cells (which do not require the destruction of a human embryo) have shown far greater promise. How's this for a list of diseases that adult stem cells may soon yet conquer:

Cancer, leukemia, arthritis, anemia, liver and cardiovascular diseases, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injuries and macular degeneration (one of the leading causes of blindness).

How could you not get excited about that? Yet politics, and not common sense, are gloriously leading us the way towards divine judgement. 'Embyronic stem cell research will save us all because we said so' is hardly the stuff of science. Sounds more like fanaticism to me.

Welcome Home Benazir! - Oct 23

You judge a society by the way it treats its women. No wonder Pakistan's generals are in a state of fear and loathing about the return of Benazir Bhutto. From the David Horowitz Freedom Centre comes a YouTube video about the dehumanization women endure under that 'Religion of Peace'. Not for the faint hearted or easily offended. Runs 9:03.

In Pakistan they call this the 'welcoming party'. Given the multi-cultural madness gripping us, who are we to criticize? Seriously though, it takes a cruel heartless bastard to explode two bombs in the midst of a big crowd. The first victims in the frontlines of jihad are almost always Muslims, a point I've made countless times before. From the BBC comes a cool picture of Karachi and the harrowing testimonies of the carnage that took place.

A picture is worth a thousand words. When I say 'multi-culti' madness I mean it. Witness the search of this poor nun in Detroit.

Concede and Bleed Dep't: Throw the Jews under the bus! If it's for the greater good then why not? That seems to be the approach Condi and Bush are taking wrt the ME 'peace process'.

God is still hard at work changing hearts and minds. A Palestinian diplomat named Khaled Ghazal recently visited Poland's Auschwitz-Birkenau with his Israeli counter-part. If this kind of thinking caught on we might actually have a chance for peace in the ME.

Another GFA story about the notorious Sumitr who came to faith in Christ. God is still in the reclamation business, saving hell-bound souls through His undeserved grace.

I leave you with a warning: Islamic leaders mean what they say and say what they mean when it comes to Islam's true intentions. You just have to look past the political correctness and the wilfull blindness of the MSM in order to find it.

A Quickie X-Def Update: I've added two links to my sidebar. In 'I Love Israel' you'll find the link for 'Strong Israel'. Please sign the petition and add your name to the list of people that support the Jewish claim to the Holy Land. I've also added 'Illustrated P.I.G' (Politically Incorrect Guide) and 'Political Mavens' to my Scallywags list. Do pay these sites a visit as they are well researched and presented.

A Clear And Present Danger - Sep 16

Found this little gem of a wallpaper from raptureready.com (see sidebar). Thought is was appropriate for this post.

Not just the mere title of a Tom Clancy novel, it is a call to awareness of the Islamic fifth column that walks amongst us. As the Germans have found out in Frankfurt, the Islamists despise Europe as much as they hate the U.S..

Make no mistake, the culture wars are in full swing. Western civilization may be the only one that has taken up the cause of the enemy with great fervency. As Bill O'Reilly notes, why are these questionable movies being made while America's military personnel are still in the line of fire? Brian DePalma's 'Redacted', a story about the rape of an Iraqi woman by American servicemen is a case in point. The perpetrators were caught, tried and convicted as they should be. Why then this irresponsible bomb-throwing? This is NOT a free speech issue. This is traitorous behaviour in the name of cinematic 'art'. Secular-progressives love to slander and libel private citizens and then run and hide behind the skirt of 'free speech'. Dare to call their bluff and watch them pontificate while we laugh at them. What losers! These leftists are terrified of genuine debate and the free market of ideas.

Don't think for a second that the likes of al-Qaida are unaware of these shenanigans. Just as we are sizing up our opponents, they are doing likewise. Why disseminate such propaganda that encourages the enemy and demoralizes us? There's a growing minority within the West that not only believes that our noble Judeo-Christian traditions aren't worth saving, but are in fact the source of all the world's evils! No wonder our enemies are sharpening their knives! Understand this: Once Jesus comes for His church, the slide towards an anti-utopian Islamic Caliphate will be irreversible. There will be no escape for those who wish to opt out of this nightmare. Only when Yeshua comes in full glory with all the armies of Heaven at His disposal will the carnage end.

I have two more links that have recently crossed my desk worth sharing.

An outbreak of Ebola (!) has broken out in the Congo. Despite it's fearsome 90% mortality rate, proper quarantine procedures can contain this outbreak.

Better Late Than Never Dep't: I have been negligent in failing to mention the sub-prime mortgage crisis. From K-House comes the story in layman's terms.

To that anti-Semitic piece of trash who left a comment on my blog (you know who you are), I have rejected your comment. So don't bother looking for it 'cause it ain't there. Loser.

On a much happier note, I've added two widgets to my sidebar. You can get your fill of the X-Def in two ways. You can get an e-mail everytime I (or Faith Girl) post or you can subscribe to my RSS feed (thanks to FeedBurner). Because of this fancy shmancy update, the widget 'Crazy Buttons' is no more. Sorry if that inconveniences you. I'd recommend the e-mail personally as I only post 1-2 times a week. Let me know if it works. Inshallah!

Our Phony War - Jul 30

All hail King Newt! OK, maybe he's not a king. Or even a prince. One thing for sure, Mr. Gingrich is nobody's fool. Anyhoo, do give this video a peak (runs 4:03). Thankfully not everybody in the West has gone to sleep over that 'Religion of Peace' we all know and love.

I can't believe July of '07 is toast already. As for me sitting in a non air conditioned room I'll be glad to see the end of summer. DizzyFatPlonka has left an interesting comment on my previous post and I've left two comments as a reply. I think you'll find the interchange most illuminating. I'd also like to apologize as it appears that all my frontpagemag.com links are now kaput. They've done an upgrade and I'm not going to attempt to re-format the old links. Sorry. The link to FPM on the sidebar is still good. I've deleted the Bilderberg link and added a link to It's the end of the world. Please do take a peek at it. I was looking at it myself late last night before I went to bed. Well thought out and researched from what I saw. Anyways, I've got some spare time and decided to get a post in to close out the month.

I mentioned that the U.S. decided to sell the Saudis $20bn worth of high-end military equipment. Seems the Saudis are in a snit over Iranian-U.S. negotiations over Iraq hence the $20bn bribe. Now the other shoe has dropped and the Russians have sold the Iranians 250 brand spanking new Sukhoi 30's with tankers for in-flight fueling. This gives the Iranians the long-range capabilities they've always wanted. Below is a picture of the Sukhoi-30. The red star on the tail fin indicates Russian allegiance. It looks a lot like an F-14 Tomcat or a F-15. Darn Russians! Always stealing our designs!

Keep in mind that Russia is also in demographic decline. Orthodox Christians are dying off at an early age (men especially) and a low birth-rate means Russia is shrinking at a rate of 700,000 people per year. And just who is replacing the vacuum that the Christians are leaving behind? It seems Muslim women have this horrible habit of pumping out a new unit every nine months and the locals can't keep up. A nuclear-armed Pakistan (30 warheads) is one thing. Russia with 5,830 nuclear missiles combined with Islamist leanings is a foreign policy nightmare. Along with Libya releasing those Bulgarian nurses and declaring their intention to sell the EU it's oil, the battle of Gog and Magog (Ezekiel 38-39) looms ever closer.

From the 'I Told You So' Dep't: I think Mr. Harper has gotten the Russians all uppity. Russian subs were seen making a 'test dive' in the Arctic Ocean. I suspect they weren't there to admire the plankton. Here's the deal: We'll have a best of eight hockey series (Four games in Russia, four in Canada). Winner gets the lot (I have a strange sense of deja vu over this). And screw the Norwegians and the Danes.

Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics Dep't: A recent poll conducted amongst Muslims finds support for suicide bombings is on the decline. Well whoop de doo. Hugh Fitzgerald thinks it's a crock too. This is a change of tactics, not a change of heart. They can say what they like but I won't be fooled. All this creates is confusion amongst the moral equivalency crowd. Hey liberals, here's a news flash: The Palestinians don't want a compromise. They want a defeated Israel and a Jew-free ME. Period. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

Making New Friends Dep't: Aaahhh, isn't this sweet? UNIFIL and Hezbollah are now buddies! No kidding! An interesting convergence is taking place as UNIFIL troops are liasing with HB to prevent attacks from Sunni insurgents. I wonder how well the UN mandate to disarm HB is going?

Congratulations to the Iraqi soccer team for winning the Asia Cup. Four have died and 17 are wounded as a result of 'celebratory gunfire'. What dolts. The Law of the Conservation of Energy (what goes up must come down) can be a real pain in the ass sometimes.

A Letter From Me To You - Jul 15

Let me say firstly how humbled I am to receive as many hits every day on this little blog. On July the 7th I received over 200+ hits! I've also noticed that my hits decrease as the last post becomes outdated. This is of course to be expected. I think that trying to get two or three posts off per week is perhaps a bit ambitious. Therefore I'll promise to post at least once a week, usually on the weekends. Ask any blogger and they'll tell you how much time it takes to produce even one post. You're looking at three to four hours of reading to begin with for research purposes and then another hour or so to type it out. I'm not complaining as I thoroughly enjoy doing this. But understand that this is a labor of love. I'm not receiving any renumeration for this nor are any accolades pouring in. So I ask for your understanding when I say that I'll be posting weekly as opposed to semi-weekly. I still might toss off the occasional post during the week but I'm usually very tired Monday to Friday. So this isn't so much a letter as it is an apology. It is rarefied air this blog breathes as it comes up on it's year and a half anniversary in August. Most blogs don't even last six months! So please accept my weakness. Glorifying God takes a lot out of me.

With that mewing out of the way I'd like to get to some more serious business at hand. Not to put too fine a point on it, but terrorism seems to be on the uptick recently. A mystery to me is the kid-glove treatment that Fatah is receiving. If the IDF makes no distinction between Fatah and Hamas, why is Fatah getting all the military aid? While Israelis have no problem making the link between terror and Islam, there are still those who are blinded by political correctness and refuse to acknowledge the obvious. We are winning! More and more are making the connection, PC be damned! It is a process, not an event, one that will accelerate as attacks increase. With every attempt at disrupting our way of life, the anti-jihad forces will increase in number.

It should come as no surprise that one of the biggest enablers of the global jihad being waged against the free world is the Left. Take the case of Iran for instance. The country of Iran is filled with young people under the age of 30. Iran is the soft underbelly of Islam and a place that fascinates me. So while the Iranian people are not a threat to the West per se, the Iranian leadership is. In short, they represent a clear and present danger to the West. For the Left not to recognize this is stunningly myopic. This idea of 'peace at any cost' is reckless and needlessly endangers us, be it our soldiers, Israelis or the youth of Iran.

What most people fail to recognize is that it costs money to wage war and/or to spy on other countries. This nonsense about terrorists doing this or that because they're disposessed or poverty-stricken is foolishness. Poor people make for lousy armies and/or political movements. They're doing it because of ideology, be it of religious or nationalist in nature. Soldiers need to be fed, organized, equipped and indoctrinated. All this requires valuable resources that only a state or billionaire families (the House of Saud comes to mind) can provide. Whether those funds come from the taxpayer, the legal sale of crude oil or illicit drugs, the principles don't change. Poor people do not cause wars, rich people do and always to their benefit. So be it the Chinese spying on Canadian soil or Syria and Iran initiating a coup d' etat in Lebanon, it costs money (and I mean a lot of money!) to wage war, be it overt or covert. Let us stop blaming ourselves! It is not the West (or Israel for that matter) that causes all the wars. It's neo-fascism and the anti-God elements that create conflict. With assistance from the god of this world of course.

So I'd like to thank you for your patience. Do check back regularly as I from time to time add links to my sidebar like this one. And don't be shy about leaving a comment! Knowing that a real live flesh-and-blood human being has read one of my posts that meant something to them is like precious gold to me. I've re-enabled comment moderation to filter out the trolls so your comment will not appear immediately. Rest assured I will read it and publish it if it looks and sounds reasonably intelligible. As for the answer as to who voiced the coyote in my previous post? It is none other than ....

Happy 140th Birthday, Canada! - Jul 1

While 140 years as a nation isn't that long, I think this nation is still a wonderful place to live. Yesterday I gave you the flag of Israel, my spiritual home. Today I give you the flag of Canada, my physical home.

Wow, I have so much to talk about. While I squeezed off my last post late at night I decided to do a much more thorough job today. It's anarchy in the U.K. as an amateurish attempt at terrorism was made at Glasgow Airport, one of Scotland's busiest. You can see the picture gallery of that incident from the Beeb. One of the pictures (posted here) shows police subduing a suspect in the bombing who was a passenger in the fire-engulfed car.

By now I'm sure you've heard of the tragedy of the double murder-suicide of Canadian-born wrestler Chris Benoit in Atlanta, Georgia. I believe Benoit's happiest moment came at WrestleMania 20 in NYC while celebrating a championship belt with his best friend, Eddie Guerrero. Tragically, Eddie preceded Benoit in wrestling's long roll call of premature deaths in 2005, passing away at the age of 38. Benoit was 40 when he snapped, an old man as far as wrestling is concerned but still too young (not to mention his wife and son) to be gone.

Was it Barnum and Bailey who said, 'You can't fool all the people all the time?'. Well, you certainly can fool most of the people most of the time. We live in a generation that is staggeringly ignorant of God's word. Divorced from the Divine, a man will believe in anything. When I look at what's happening in Britain recently, I cannot help but be amazed by the accelerated pace of prophecy as Gordon Brown replaces Tony Blair. With Tony now becoming the newly-conceived special envoy for the Quartet (U.S., EU, Russia and the UN), there is no doubt that we are in that last generation that Jesus spoke of. Think about it for a second. Prior to 1948 there was no such thing as Israel, the United Nations or a European Union. It is only this unique generation that can boast of such things. The fact that these indicators now exist is a true measure of the pregnant times we live in.

Farfour the Mouse, We Hardly Knew Ye: Out of Israel comes one of the strangest martyrdoms on TV. Farfour the Mouse was beaten to death on Hamas-affiliated Al-Aksa TV by an actor posing as an Israeli agent. While this strikes me as a form of black comedy, keep in mind that young impressionable minds are seeing their beloved Farfour being killed by a 'Jew'. The fact that Farfour is a Disney rip-off or that the actor playing the Israeli agent is Muslim matters little to these young 'uns. To them, Farfour is like a member of the family. Inflammatory and blatant anti-semitic propaganda rooted in the lowest form of cynicism. The innocence of youth gets trampled underfoot once more.

From the International Herald Tribune comes an interesting story from Kabul, Afghanistan about suicide bombers and those who deal with the aftermath. Some imams won't even bother saying a graveside prayer for those who have shed Muslim blood. The grave diggers are unsurprisingly a coarse lot, prone to gallows humor to liven up their day. An interesting insight into a dark topic, that's for sure.

Now with this being Canada's birthday, I want to share some good news. It seems that Canadians have a pessimistic outlook on Muslim-Christian relations. Why is this good news you ask? With every jihadi attack carried out, the greater the backlash to the powder-puff treatment that Islam receives. More and more are waking up to the threat that Islam poses. More and more Muslims are having a quiet crisis of faith. These are all good things. May this increase exponentially.

Do you remember June 6, 2006? You know, 6/6/06? While some heathen dolts did celebrate the Beast's number on that day, an even more interesting date is a mere six days away. You guessed it, 7/7/07! Many are rushing to the altar that day, hoping that will bring them luck. While I'm not so sure of that, I do know that 777 is found in the Bible:

Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. (Rev 5:6)

The Lamb is a clear reference to Jesus Christ. He is described as having 7 horns, 7 eyes and 7 spirits or 777 if you will. For a larger look at this, you can view my post The Number 666, 777 in my greatest hits.

That's it for today and likely the week as I'm headed to Niagara Falls for some much deserved rest. I'll be busy next weekend too so I don't know when I'll post next. I've added 'Learn to Pray' (pdf file) in my Booklets header and 'Compass Direct' in my Recommended Favorites. Compass Direct is one of the finest sites on global Christian persecution happening today.
